I love expensive things but I do not buy expensive things.
I have clothes I have had for years but did not break the bank to obtain them. And often times things that I do have people are no clamoring to buy at almost 50x the price that I paid.
I am a huge fan of closet staples and investment pieces i.e. a leather jacket, leather boots, statement necklace and earrings, good pair of black pumps.
I have all of these things in my closet but they were all in my budget.
I always look like a million bucks but I don't spend a million bucks. Know your limits. Fashion is not worth going into debt over. I love Carrie Bradshaw but she is not the best example of fashion fiscal responsibility. LOL
I buy boots and statement pieces like wool, cashmere, leather and such out of season when it is on sale. I raid my mom's and others' closets for fashion gold when they were young and hip (i.e. Gloria Vanderbilt jeans and silk tops). I look for going out of business sales and end of season sale racks. I shop sample sales online and in-person for great deals. I shop consignment too.
Recycle, Recycle, Recycle
Things will come back in style, pieces can be rotated and reused. Look good, but be creative and be smart about it.
Happy Shopping!
