In this world there are so many copies. That's what gave rise to fast fashion, the desire to look just like somebody else. Usually your favorite celebrity.
Do not conform to the world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Don't get sucked into believing that because it is popular and all the IT girls are wearing it you have to wear what everybody else is wearing. Especially if you hate it! That's poppycock. You gotta change your mindset to wanting to be original and perfectly you.
Now, you might be wondering, how is the girl who talks about the trends saying don't conform?
Well that's simple.
I share the trends I like (i.e. plaid, leather and PVC), I tell you about the ones I don't (like bike shorts and dad sneakers, 😫) and while I do shop trends I'm doing so to add to my existing style palette not to look like someone else.
You can't call me a fashion fascist. I like my style, I like my outfit choices and I wear what I like regardless of if a Kardashian wore it or not.
It's a style that I have crafted over years of hand-me-downs, fashion independence, buying new pieces, faux pas, trial and error, shoes (can't forget the shoes) and fun. I wouldn't toss that away to look like anyone else other than myself. All that hard work and self-discovery will be put to good use.
In the same way you should develop your own style. I don't have a manual or top 10 list for how to develop your style. Just these simple words...
Wear what fits, wear what you love, wear it often
and do not conform.
